About the Event
For 2023/2024, the International Baroque Consort is celebrating the music of the Spanish Baroque, as well as music with strong Spanish ties. Our tour programme ‘Música de España’, will feature music by Joaquín Martínez de la Roca, anonymously composed music set to the words of Lope de Vega, Juan Francisco Escuder, Diego Ortiz, Sebastián Durón, and Giuseppe Antonio Paganelli. Our upcoming tour around the UK will include concerts in Manchester in June and July 2023. We also plan to bring this music on tour with us to Europe and the USA in 2024. In these concerts, we will showcase the unique and unfamiliar music of 17th and 18th century Spain, giving them a new lease of life!
The IBC's future plans include a professional recording of the concert series, and making available arrangements and editions of the music on our website. We are excited to bring this unique and unfamiliar music to audiences around the United Kingdom this year.
